Details of SASSA Payment Dates for January 2025
Social grant payment dates for January 2025:
*Older Person’s Grants will be paid from 04 January 2025 (THIS INCLUDES ANY GRANTS LINKED TO THESE ACCOUNTS)
*Disability grants will be paid from 05 January 2025 (THIS INCLUDES ANY GRANTS LINKED TO THESE ACCOUNTS)
*All other social grants will be paid from 06 January 2025
Note: There is no need to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will be there until it’s needed.

Payment via Bank Account
Receiving payments via your bank account is probably the most convenient payment method and fastest way to receive the grant, it also means you can avoid queuing in person at the Post Office. The amounts for each month will be paid into the bank account of the beneficiary as per the grant application. Please note that the bank details or cellular phone number provided for payment MUST be registered in the name of the approved applicant used in the Covid-19 R350 grant application process to make sure that payment goes to the correct recipients.
Payment Collection
If you don’t have any banking details, individuals can collect your grant cash from the Post Office branches (SAPO/Post Bank), Pick-N-Pay or Boxer stores. Or alternatively a Bank Mobile Money Transfer (cash send option). You will only be able to collect the grant money once you have received a notification SMS confirmation to say there has been confirmation of payment. What is my SASSA Status is Pending?
Unfortunately, for a lot of people, when they check SASSA status online it is only showing as “pending” and they are unable to receive the R350. The official SASSA recently released the below message on 1st January 2025:
Payments for the new cycle of the special COVID-19 SRD grant will be paid from mid-January 2025.
SASSA will continue clearing outstanding payments from the previous cycle as and when the bank details are confirmed. The payments will not be done together but will be done month by month. More than one payment may be made in a month, but no one will receive double payments in amount. SASSA will do these multiple payments in a month until the backlog is finalized, where which monthly payments will resume.
