Do UNISA Students Qualify for SRD Grant
University education is highly costly. Students and parents most at times go through a lot to raise finance one’s education. This condition has created the need to generate a scheme to support students throughout their education. But Do UNISA Students Qualify for SRD Grant?
The SRD Grant is a special grant introduced by the Government of Soth Africa to issue an amount of R 350 for unemployed South Africans for a period of six months during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Students consider themselves unemployed and are entitled to the SASSA SRD Grant. But the SASSA has said that students who are beneficiaries of NSFAS bursaries and NSFAS allowances are not qualified for the SRD grant. This makes UNISA Students uneligible for SRD Grant.
UNISA Students are seeking financial support should apply for:
- NSFAS funding
- Bursaries (For undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas, masters and doctoral degrees)
