- Copy the jailbreak file. Find the jailbreak file on your computer and click it, then press Ctrl+C.
- Open Start . Click the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
- Open File Explorer. Click the folder-shaped icon in the bottom-left corner of the Start window.
- Click This PC. You should see this computer monitor-shaped icon in the left-hand column of options in the File Explorer window.
- Double-click your flash drive’s name. The flash drive’s name will be below the “Devices and drives” heading in the middle of the window. Doing so opens the flash drive.
- Click Home. It’s a tab in the upper-left side of the window. A toolbar will appear at the top of the window.
- Click New folder. This folder-shaped icon is in the “New” section of the toolbar.
- Enter PS3 as the folder’s name. Type in PS3 and press ↵ Enter.
- Open the “PS3” folder. Double-click the “PS3” folder to do so.
- Create a folder named UPDATE here. You’ll do this in the same way in which you created the “PS3” folder:
- Click Home
- Click New folder
- Type in UPDATE and press ↵ Enter.
- Open the “UPDATE” folder. Double-click it to do so.
- Paste in the jailbreak file. Press Ctrl+V to paste in the copied file, or click Home and then click Paste in the “Clipboard” part of the toolbar.
- Rename the jailbreak file to PS3UPDAT. Click the jailbreak file to select it if it isn’t already selected, then click Home, click Rename in the “Organize” section, and type PS3UPDAT in and press ↵ Enter.
Eject your flash drive. Click the flash drive-shaped icon in the bottom-right corner of your computer’s screen, then click Eject Flash Drive in the pop-up menu. When prompted, you can safely remove the flash drive from your computer and proceed to jailbreaking your PS3.
- On some computers, you may first have to click ^ in the lower-right side of the screen to see the flash drive-shaped icon.
