DSI-CSIR BURSARY

Inter-Bursary Support Programme

Call for applications

The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) invite applications for a bursary under the DSI-CSIRInter- Bursary Support (IBS) Programme. The IBS postgraduate bursary is intended for full-time studies at any South African public university under specific themes.

For Master’s or doctoral applicants, the bursary is restricted to the following research areas:

Aerospace
Biotechnology (biopharming, bioprocessing or biocatalysis)
Composites
Health
Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS)
Information and communications technology
Modelling and digital sciences
Microsystems technology
Photonics
Titanium (manufacturing elements of)

For applications towards honours, the fourth year in engineering, BTech or Advanced Diploma the bursary is restricted to the following areas:

Biotechnology and related majors
Chemistry
Computer science
Data science or ICT-related majors
Engineering and related majors
Health (biochemistry, microbiology, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences, etc.)
Information systems
Mathematics/applied maths/statistics
Physics

What is the value of the bursary award per annum? Honours R90 000 | Master’s R100 000 | PhD R130 000
