DSI-CSIR BURSARY
Inter-Bursary Support Programme
Call for applications
The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) invite applications for a bursary under the DSI-CSIRInter- Bursary Support (IBS) Programme. The IBS postgraduate bursary is intended for full-time studies at any South African public university under specific themes.
For Master’s or doctoral applicants, the bursary is restricted to the following research areas:
- Aerospace
- Biotechnology (biopharming, bioprocessing or biocatalysis)
- Composites
- Health
- Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS)
- Information and communications technology
- Modelling and digital sciences
- Microsystems technology
- Photonics
- Titanium (manufacturing elements of)
For applications towards honours, the fourth year in engineering, BTech or Advanced Diploma the bursary is restricted to the following areas:
- Biotechnology and related majors
- Chemistry
- Computer science
- Data science or ICT-related majors
- Engineering and related majors
- Health (biochemistry, microbiology, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences, etc.)
- Information systems
- Mathematics/applied maths/statistics
- Physics
What is the value of the bursary award per annum? Honours R90 000 | Master’s R100 000 | PhD R130 000
