Tel: (021) 650-2128 or email: admissions-pg@uct.ac.za. The Admissions Office is located on Level 4, Masingene Building, Middle Campus, and will where necessary refer you to a faculty office or department for more details information or advice.

APPLICATIONS FOR STUDENT HOUSING

Applications for residential accommodation must be received by 30 September. The application is part of the academic application process. Only students applying for full-time study are considered for UCT accommodation.

UCT has a three-tier residence system that provides different levels of services, governance and management for junior and senior students. First-tier residences are for undergraduates only.

• Second-tier catering residences provide accommodation for senior undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Third-tier residences provide self-catering accommodation for senior and postgraduate students.
• Second-tier catering residences provide accommodation for senior undergraduate and postgraduate students.

POSTGRADUATE FUNDING

UCT financial assistance is only available to full-time students.

FUNDING FOR SOUTH AFRICAN POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS

Complete the Postgraduate Funding Application as part of your application for admission to UCT. Please refer to the Postgraduate Funding Office (PGFO) for details:

The closing dates for the different bursaries and scholarships differ, contact the PGFO for information on the closing dates.

FUNDING FOR INTERNATIONAL POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS

We have a LIMITED number of scholarships available for international and refugee students. UCT international and refugee student scholarships are NOT full cost awards due to limited funding. Please obtain sufficient funding from other sources. Prior to applying to the Postgraduate Funding Office for funding, you must submit your UCT admissions application (http://applyonline.uct.ac.za).

Information and the Application Form for funding (10C) can be sourced from the Postgraduate Funding Office – or from the Office’s website: http://www.students.uct.ac.za/students/fees-funding/postgraduate-degree-funding/applications-requirements

The closing date for applications for UCT international and refugee students’ scholarships and supporting documentation is 31 July. Please return the completed Form 10C directly to the Postgraduate Centre and Funding Office.

Late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered.

FUNDING FOR GSB POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS

The Graduate School of Business has funding opportunities available to postgraduate students. For further information, go to http:// www.gsb.uct.ac.za/funding-scholarships

APPLICATION FEES

NOTE

• Application fees are not refundable. Paying an application fee does not mean that your application will be successful.
• The application fee may be paid by direct deposit, electronic funds transfer (EFT) or credit card. Cash payments may be made only at the Cashiers Office, Kramer Building, Cross Campus Road, Middle Campus, UCT.

Credit card payments must be made online at https://payments.uct.ac.za/admissions/.

• EFT payments for all degrees/diplomas EXCEPT GSB must be made to the following account:

Swift code (for international payments): SBZAZAJJ

Reference Number: 11196, applicant’s first name, applicant’s last name e.g. 11196 Sally Smith (This reference must be entered on the appropriate bank form.)

*Standard Bank clients must select the bank-approved beneficiary “UNIVERSITY CAPE TOWN SUNDRIES ACCOUNT” from the Companies list.

• EFT payments for the GSB (Graduate School of Business) programmes must be made to the following account:

Swift code (for international payments for GSB programmes): SBZAZAJJ

GSB Reference Number: GSB, applicant’s first name, applicant’s last name e.g. GSB Betty Brown (This reference must be entered on the appropriate bank form.)

• Application fees must be paid in South African rands, except by applicants from outside of Africa applying for GSB Programmes, in which case payment should be in US Dollars.
• UCT graduates are exempt from paying an application fee, except in the case of GSB applicants.

DATES BY WHICH TO APPLY

The dates below are for coursework master’s degrees, honours degrees or PG diplomas. All research master’s and PhD applications remain open throughout the year.

Applicants applying to the Graduate School of Business doctoral programmes must refer to www.gsb.uct.ac.za for the relevant closing dates.

The submission date for coursework postgraduate programmes is 31 October unless otherwise specified below. After the submission date a selection process takes place. Where places remain available after the first round of selection, applications received after the closing date may be considered, depending on the department.

FACULTY OF COMMERCE: HONOURS, COURSEWORK MASTER’S AND POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

31 October is the closing date for all Commerce PG qualifications except for:

Actuarial Sciences applications require proof of passes in professional examinations, or of exemption recommendations.

All international applicants are urged to apply by 31 October.
