About the Subtrop SAAGA: South Africa Subtropical Growers’ Association (Subtrop) is an association that manages the affairs of 3 other associations, including the South African Avocado Growers’ Association (SAAGA), the South African Litchi Growers’ Association (SALGA) and the South African Mango Growers’ Association (SAMGA). SAAGA’s list of objectives and aims include: researching the production and marketing of avocados; providing recommendations regarding the after harvest handling and distribution of avocados; encouraging local marketing of avocados as well as exporting and assisting with marketing information distribution and more.

- BSc Agriculture degree (majoring in Agricultural Economics/ Horticultural Science)
Subtrop SAAGA Bursary Application Requirements
- South African citizen
- From a previously disadvantaged group
- Studying within the aforementioned field of study
- Studying at a recognised tertiary institution within South Africa
- Wish to follow a career within the avocado industry in SA
Subtrop SAAGA Bursary Application Procedures
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric certificate (certified copy)
- Full university academic record (on tertiary letterhead)
- A motivational letter stating why you deserve to be awarded a bursary
- Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages)
- Details of any other bursary or scholarship awards from which you are funded
