NSFAS Application Opening Date

In reference to last year application, the NSFAS Application Opening Date for 2025 will begin on 28th September 2023.   1. Know who is eligible for NSFAS Application

An applicant will qualify for NSFAS bursary if he/she is a South African citizen who plans to study in 2025 or you are already studying at a public university or TVET college, and you meet the following requirements:

  • SASSA grant recipients
  • Your combined household income is not more than, R350 000 per year or
  • A person with a disability with a combined household income of not more than R600 000 per year or
  • The student who began their university studies before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per year

2. Know the Requirements for NSFAS Application

Applicants should confirm whether they have the following documents.

  • Make sure you have your own cellphone number and email address
  • An applicant who is recognized as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form
  • A copy of your ID or Birth certificate
  • Applicants with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
  • Your proof of income or 1 year’s IRP5 if applicable
  • A copy of your parents, guardian, or spouse’s proof of income
  • If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required
  • Provide ID copies of parents, guardians, or spouse
