About the NMISA: The history of the National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) dates back to 1947 when the National Physical Research Laboratory wad formed. They form part of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Technical Infrastructure (TI) Institutes. The company’s mission is to provide an appropriate measurement standard to the industry, environmental, health and safety sectors of SA. NMISA’s four core values include Good Governance; Social Responsibility; Economic prosperity and Measurement Excellence. NMISA aims to develop and maintain both primary and secondary standards for our country and to compare these standards against international standards to attain global comparability.
