About the merSETA: The merSETA is a part of the Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), whose aim it is to encourage skill development in South Africa. There are a total of 21 SETAs, with sectors in Engineering, Manufacturing and other related fields.

merSETA Bursary Application Requirements 2025/2026

South African citizen
Either employed by a company which is registered with the merSETA OR unemployed and wishes to work within the manufacturing, engineering and related service sector
Have a Matric certificate (or equivalent) OR a post-Matric (or equivalent qualification)
Meet the minimum admission requirements of the tertiary institution
Studying or intend on studying towards one of the aforementioned qualifications

merSETA Bursary Application Procedures 2025/2026

ID document (certified copy)
Matric certificate or equivalent (certified copy)
Proof of application/ registration at a University or the University of Technology in South Africa
Latest tertiary report, if currently studying (certified copy)
Proof of any other sources of study funding
