About the Masakh’iSizwe (MiS): The Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works are the South African governmental department that is responsible for the maintenance and construction of the country’s roads, as well as health facilities, educational facilities and general buildings.   • South African citizen
  • Intend on studying full-time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • New applicant (not a current bursar of the Masakh’iSizwe Bursary programme)
  • Accepted to study at one of the following universities: University of Cape Town/ Cape Peninsula University of Technology/ University of Stellenbosch
  • *Preference will be given to financially disadvantaged students, especially female students; those from rural communities and those with disabilities

Masakh’iSizwe (MiS) Bursary Application Procedures 2025/2026

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Latest Matric results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
  • Latest academic results, if currently at tertiary level (certified copy)
  • Full academic record (certified copy)
  • Proof of registration or application at one of the aforementioned tertiary institutions
  • Full course outline for 2021
  • Study cost estimate for 2021
  • Proof of residential address (recent account or utility bill)
  • Parents/ guardians/ spouse ID document (certified copy)
  • Parents/ guardians/ spouse proof of income (latest payslip if employed/ affidavit if unemployed/ death certificate if deceased)
  • Proof of any existing debt (if applicable)
  • Proof of any other financial aid received (if applicable)
  • Medical proof of disability (if disabled)
  • Motivational letter to support your application
