Mangosuthu University of Technology 2025 MQA Bursary Application Form – Unemployed Bursaries Intake

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for the Mining and Minerals Sector in terms of the Skills Development Act No. 97 of 1998.

Details of Mangosuthu University of Technology Bursaries Application 2025/2026

The MQA would like to invite learners who intend on studying for a career within the Mining and Minerals Sector, to apply for an MQA bursary. The MQA Bursary Scheme is open to qualifying learners who are currently in Grade 12 and who intend to study during 2025 or current students who are already studying towards a certificate, diploma, degree at a public university, university of technology or a TVET College.

The MQA bursary scheme only funds the following qualifications at universities and universities of technology:

  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Chemical Engineering (mineral processing)
  • Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
  • Mechanical Engineering

NOTE: THIS BURSARY IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS PURSUING POST-GRADUATE STUDIES.

NB: Preference will be given to the following aspects in the selection of candidates:

  • South African citizens only;
  • Financially needy applicants – determined by household income of not more than R600 000 per annum
  • Female applicants;
  • Applicants living in rural communities;
  • Applicants who have applied to study at their local tertiary institutions;
  • Academic performance.

APPLICATION WINDOW

This application period is for NEW bursary applicants onlyCurrent MQA bursars must complete the application for Continuation of Bursary for 2025 which will be available from 1 October 2020 on the MQA website.

APPLICATION FORMS

Applicants must download the Bursary Application Form: Unemployed Bursars from the MQA website: www.mqa.org.za.

Applications forms and supporting documents must be submitted to the following email address: bursaries@mqa.org.za

The abovementioned e-mail address is the designated e-mail address to receive bursary applications. Application forms forwarded to any other email address at MQA will be disqualified.

A detailed set of instructions and guidelines for the completion and submission of the application form and the required supporting documents are included on the application form. Applicants are requested to diligently follow these instructions and guidelines in order to ensure that their applications are not disqualified.

Note: Applicants must ensure that they download and complete the correct application form. In the event that an incomplete application form is received and/or all supporting documents are not included, such application will be disqualified.

All applicants will receive an e-mail confirming receipt of their application forms and supporting documents and due to the large numbers of applications which are expected to be received, the MQA will not be able to telephonically confirm whether your e-mail application had been received. If you have not received further correspondence from the MQA by 31 November 2020, then please consider your application as being unsuccessful.

Late applications will not be considered. Please do not wait for the closing date to submit your application as the designated e-mail service of the MQA may be overloaded on the closing date and your application may not be received on time.

The application period for the 2025 intake will open on 18 September and closes on 18 October.
