About Department of Tourism
The Department of Tourism is mandated under the Tourism Act 3 of 2014 to: promote the practice of responsible tourism for the benefit of the country and for the enjoyment of all its residents and foreign visitors; provide for the effective domestic and international marketing of South Africa as a tourist destination; promote quality tourism products and services; promote growth in and development of the tourism sector, and enhance cooperation and coordination between all spheres of government in developing and managing tourism.
How to Apply for Department of Tourism Internship 2025/2026
The Department of Tourism does award internship opportunities to South Africans who wish to apply in the fields that are in line with the departmental core business. The awards are conducted on an academic cycle according to departmental needs.
The 2025/2026 intake of Interns closed in August. Correspondence will be limited to short-listed candidates only. If you have not been contacted within three months of the closing date, please accept that your application for the internship programme was unsuccessful.
