Details of Auto and General Pet Insurance
For over three decades, you’ve relied on us to take care of all your insurance needs. Now you can rely on us to take care of your Pet Insurance too. We offer three plans, allowing you to select the one best suited to your needs – and finances. All plans are backed by our Service Promise – which we’ve extended to include Pet Insurance.
Auto and General Service Promise to you and your pets
You will speak to a knowledgeable and experienced advisor. To ensure you can focus on your pet’s wellbeing, they promise to keep you updated on the important details of your claim and you will have access to a claim’s consultant through your claims process.
Pet insurance Packages
Emergency Plan
If you’re simply looking for accident cover, you can rely on our Emergency Plan. If your pet is injured in an accident and requires hospitalisation/surgery, we’ll help cover the cost. This plan is also ideal for pets over 9 years old.
Premium = R100
Surgery and Hospitilisation = R10 000 per year
Hospital Plan
The Hospital Plan will assist you with paying for the bigger vet bills if your pet is admitted to hospital due to an accident or illness.
From Premium = R160
Surgery and Hospitilisation = R30 000 per year/R20 000 per event
Wellness (routine care) = R350 per year/ *R35,00 additional premium pm
Dignified Ending (cremation) = R1 500
Multi-pet Discount = 10% for 2 pets/ 15% for 3 or more pets (same plan)
Core Plan
For those who require more comprehensive cover, our Core Plan is ideal. It includes a wide range of cover, from hospitalisation/surgery and vet visits to 3rd Party Liability and finally, a Dignified Ending.
From Premium = R270
Surgery and Hospitilisation = R30 000 per year
Wellness (routine care) = R1000 per year
Minor care (vet visits) = R1 500 per visit / R3 000 per year
Dignified Ending (cremation) = R1 500
3rd Party Liability = R50 000
Multi-pet Discount = 10% for 2 pets / 15% for 3 or more pets (same plan)
Premium Plan
Experience optimal cover with our Premium Plan. It includes all the same cover as our Core Plan but with much higher cover limits – as well as cover for Diagnostics and Scans.
From Premium = R400
Surgery and Hospitilisation = R50 000 per year
Wellness (routine care) = R1 500 per year
Minor care (vet visits) = R1 800 per visit / R3 600 per year
Diagnostics & Scans (inconclusive)= R2 000 per year
3rd Party Liability= R150 000
Multi-pet Discount = 10% for 2 pets / 15% for 3 or more pets (same plan)
Other important information:
Cover exclusions:
- Pre-existing conditions are excluded on all plans.
- For the first 12 months of cover on the Core and Premium plans: hip & elbow dysplasia, displacement of the patella (kneecap), entropion, ectropion, cherry eye, cruciate ligament rupture, brachycephalic conditions in flat-faced breeds, intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) in long-bodied breeds.
- Total exclusion of congenital/hereditary conditions on the Emergency plan.
Excesses:
- There is no excess for Wellness, Dignified Ending and 3rd Party Liability claims.
- There is only a 10% excess on Minor Care and Diagnostic claims.
- Excess on Surgery & Hospitalisation: First 6 months of cover – 25% (minimum R500), whichever is greater Month 7 of cover onwards – 10% (minimum R500), whichever is greater
- Kindly note that the above excesses are applied per claim.
Waiting periods:
- No waiting period for accidents (including accidental death under Dignified Ending).
- 30-day waiting period for Illness, Wellness, Minor Care, Diagnostics and 3rd Party claims.
- 6-month waiting period for death due to natural causes (old age) under Dignified Ending.
- 12-month waiting period (on Core and Premium Plans) for congenital/hereditary conditions.
