About the ASSET (Association for Educational Transformation): The Association for Educational Transformation (ASSET), a non-profit organisation situated in the Western Cape was founded in January 2003. The organisation previously operated under the wing of the SAIRR (South African Institute of Race Relations), which formed the Bursary Programme in 1972. The SAIRR have a longstanding history of assisting disadvantaged students with their educational needs and today the ASSET bursary supports around 500 students each year. As a way of giving back to the disadvantaged community, ASSET has a bursary programme to allow students to pursue their studies who lack the funds to pay for their tuition. Funding is received from not only local and national donors but also international donors.

Details of ASSET (Association for Educational Transformation) Bursary Application 2025/2026
ANY field of study, at a University or the University of Technology within the Western Cape (University of Cape Town/ University of the Western Cape/ University of the Stellenbosch/ Cape Peninsula University of Technology).
ASSET (Association for Educational Transformation) Bursary Application Requirements 2025/2026
- South African citizen
- Reside within the Western Cape
- Completed Matric OR currently in Matric
- Studying OR intend on studying full time towards your first higher certificate/ diploma/ degree qualification
- Studying OR intend on studying at a University or the University of Technology within the Western Cape (NOT a private institution or FET College)
- Meet the entry requirements at a University or the University of Technology for your chosen course of study
- Preference will be given to students from disadvantaged communities and those in financial need
- Preference will be given to students who have achieved above-average results for subjects relevant to their field of study
- Preference will be given to students in financial need (total income of less than R18 000 per month for a family with 2 children, or R2000 extra per child for up to 4 children and total income between R350 000 and R600 000 per year)
- Preference will be given to students who have attended poorer schools but have still achieved a University entrance

- ID document (certified copy)
- Grade 11 final results AND Matric latest results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
- Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
- Latest tertiary results, if finals are not available (certified copy)
- Proof of household income (payslips if employed/ sworn statement or affidavit/ pension advice if applicable)
- Motivational letter to support your application
