1. Admission to Higher Certificate – NQF Exit Level 5 with minimum total credits of 120

• To qualify for admission to the Higher Certificate, the applicant must have a Senior Certificate (SC) OR National Senior Certificate (NSC) endorsed with confirmation that they qualify for admission to Higher Certificate
• In the case of Centurion Academy this would normally be a minimum of 30% in English as a Home Language or First Additional Language and a minimum of 30% in ANY FOUR subjects OR a National Certificate (Vocational) with the minimum requirements for entrance to Higher Certificate studies, as specified by Umalusi; or any other related NQF level 4 SAQA approved.

2. Admission to Diploma – NQF Exit level 6 with a minimum total credit of 360

• To qualify for admission to Diploma studies, the applicant must have a Senior Certificate (SC) OR National Senior Certificate (NSC) endorsed to confirm admission to Diploma studies with a minimum achievement of 3 (40-49%) in any FOUR 20 credit subjects AS WELL AS a minimum of 30% in the language of the institution of higher education OR a National Certificate (Vocational) with the minimum requirements for entrance to Diploma studies, as specified by Umalusi; or any other related NQF level 4 SAQA accredited qualification.
• The candidate must meet any qualification specific additional.
• Alternately, a Higher Certificate in a cognate field or containing appropriate cognate content will also be considered for admission.

3. Admission to Degrees – NQF Exit level 7/8 with minimum total credits of 360

• The minimum entry requirement is a National Senior Certificate endorsed as meeting the requirements for admission to Degree.
• In addition, candidates must meet specific qualification.
• Admission will also be given to candidates with a National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 issued by the Council for General and Further Education and Training if achieved at the appropriate level; a Senior Certificate (SC) with matriculation exemption or qualify for exemption from the Matriculation Board.
• Admission can also be achieved through a Higher Certificate or Advanced Certificate in a cognate field, a Diploma, or formal Recognition of Prior learning.

4. Admission to Postgraduate Studies

• Admission to postgraduate studies is governed by the minimum admission requirements of the Higher Education Qualification Sub Framework and requires completion of a qualification, in a cognate field. at the level below the one for which application is being made.
• Candidates may be required to achieve a particular result in their preceding qualifications.

5. International Students

• For degree studies an international student requires a certificate of exemption from the Matric Board and a valid visa or permit in the name of the institution which is valid for the duration of the study
• For admission to other qualifications the student requires a certificate of equivalence from SAQA which is valid for the duration of the study period.

6. Mature Age Admission Requirements: 

• A candidate who is 23 years or older may be admitted to Degree studies if the candidate has 40% for four or more subjects in the NSC examination or equivalent school leaving qualification.
• A candidate who is 23 years or older may be admitted to a Higher Certificate or Diploma studies if the candidate has an NSC.
• A candidate who will be 45 years or older in their first year of study may be admitted to any relevant undergraduate course of study if the Academic Board believes that they have a reasonable chance of completing their studies. For degree studies an application for a certificate of exemption must be made to USAf supported by a letter of support from the Academic Board.

7. Disability

• If the Academy can accommodate the needs of a student in a dignified manner, students who are differently abled will be accepted. Reasonable accommodations are made, the cost of which, except for building access, is for the student who is also expected to make their own arrangements for special equipment and support.
• For assessment purposes these accommodations/ concessions may include scribes and readers on provision of the relevant formal assessments of the need for the concession.

8. International/ Foreign student applications
